Mallow Bridge
The bridge in its present iteration was built in the 1850s, with its history dating back to the early 17th century. The city council planned to construct a boardwalk and our client required a BIM model prior to the commencement of construction.
Responsibilities
Scan to BIM modeling using Revit. The client provided us with point cloud data along with photographs of the bridge.
Challenges
- The undulating nature of the bridge posed a significant challenge in the modeling process.
- The road and sidewalk on the bridge was connected by a kerb. Due to the undulating nature of the bridge, modeling the kerb was challenging.
- Creating the topography of the bridge present a considerable challenge due to limitations in the software.
Solutions
- With dedication and persistence, the bridge was precisely modeled.
- A separate kerb for all curves and twists in the road was created.
