Battersea Power Station UK

An iconic landmark, Battersea is a decommissioned coal-fired power station that has been repurposed as a commercial cum residential complex. The power station is dotted with shops, offices, bars, restaurants and residential units. Due to its historical significance, the process of redevelopment was carried out without changing the façade of the building.

·  Coordinated BIM model
·  Coordinated shop drawings
ServicesMEP Modeling, BIM coordination, Shop drawings

Responsibilities

Using the architectural and structural BIM models, along with 3D design model and equipment schedule provided by the client, we had to create:

  • MEP BIM model of LOD 350
  • BIM coordination for architectural, structural and MEP services
  • Shop Drawings

Challenges

  • There were no schematics, riser diagrams or pdf binder provided to us by the client.
  • The project was initially bound to merely tagging, however with multiple changes in design, the coordination and modeling also had to change, which again had to be updated in the model and coordinated with design.
  • In the new design, some of the FCUs were re-located to a different location. This created a discrepancy in the access panel location and RCP location of actual model.

Solutions

  • The entire project execution was solely based on our team’s technical expertise and MEP know-how in order to understand refrigerant piping arrangement and riser arrangement
  • We successfully managed to complete the work in record time with our team of experts.
  • We raised an RFI and obtained the client’s authorization to change the access panel location.
